The ehea driver was recently changed[1] to use walk_memory_resource() to
detect the system's memory layout. However, walk_memory_resource() is
available only when memory hotplug is enabled. So CONFIG_EHEA was
made to depend on MEMORY_HOTPLUG [2], but it is inappropriate for a
network driver to have such a dependency.
Make the declaration of walk_memory_resource() and its powerpc
implementation (ehea is powerpc-specific) unconditionally available.

The AT91 NAND driver needs just a few tiny modifications to work on
AVR32 as well. Rename it atmel_nand to reflect this.
Also move the ECC register definitions into drivers/mtd/nand since they
are only useful to the atmel_nand driver, and get rid of the useless
filename at the top of each file.

use_mm() was changed to use switch_mm() instead of activate_mm(), since
then nobody calls (and nobody should call) activate_mm() with
PF_BORROWED_MM bit set.

Migrate the PIT timer to the physical CPU which vcpu0 is scheduled on,
similarly to what is done for the LAPIC timers, otherwise PIT interrupts
will be delayed until an unrelated event causes an exit.

The RT folks over at RedHat found an issue w.r.t. hotplug support which
was traced to problems with the cpupri infrastructure in the scheduler:

This bug affects 23-rt12+, 24-rtX, 25-rtX, and sched-devel. This patch
applies to 25.4-rt4, though it should trivially apply to most cpupri enabled
kernels mentioned above.
It turned out that the issue was that offline cpus could get inadvertently
registered with cpupri so that they were erroneously selected during
migration decisions. The end result would be an OOPS as the offline cpu
had tasks routed to it.
This patch generalizes the old join/leave domain interface into an
online/offline interface, and adjusts the root-domain/hotplug code to
utilize it.
I was able to easily reproduce the issue prior to this patch, and am no
longer able to reproduce it after this patch. I can offline cpus
indefinately and everything seems to be in working order.
Thanks to Arnaldo (acme), Thomas, and Peter for doing the legwork to point
me in the right direction. Also thank you to Peter for reviewing the
early iterations of this patch.

ip_fast_csum() requires a memory clobber on its inline asm as it accesses
memory in a fashion that gcc can't predict.
The GCC manual says:
If your assembler instructions access memory in an unpredictable
fashion, add `memory' to the list of clobbered registers. This will
cause GCC to not keep memory values cached in registers across the
assembler instruction and not optimize stores or loads to that memory.
The bug hasn't been noticed in FRV, but it has been seen in PA-RISC.

Only the version pte_mkyoung for 36-bit pagetables on 32-bit hw was
affected and with this bug being around since November 29, 2004 there
is evidence to suport the assumption it was benign ;-)

Some of the storage devices (that can be accessed through multiple paths),
do need some special handling for
1. Activating the passive path of the storage access.
2. Decode and handle the special sense codes returned by the devices.
3. Handle the I/Os being sent to the passive path, especially
during the device probe time.
when accessed through multiple paths.
As of today this special device handling is done at the dm-multipath
layer using dm-handlers. That works well for (1); for (2) to be handled
at dm layer, scsi sense information need to be exported from SCSI to dm-layer,
which is not very attractive; (3) cannot be done at all at the dm layer.
Device handler has been moved to SCSI mainly to handle (2) and (3) properly.

Current IRQ affinity interface does not provide a way to set affinity
for the IRQs that will be allocated/activated in the future.
This patch creates /proc/irq/default_smp_affinity that lets users set
default affinity mask for the newly allocated IRQs. Changing the default
does not affect affinity masks for the currently active IRQs, they
have to be changed explicitly.
Updated based on Paul J's comments and added some more documentation.

64bit mode bootstrap code does set nmi_watchdog to NMI_NONE
by default and doing the same on 32bit mode is safe too.
Such an action saves us from several #ifdef.

This patch reserves the EFI memory map with reserve_early(). Because EFI
memory map is allocated by bootloader, if it is not reserved by
reserved_early(), it may be overwritten through address returned by
find_e820_area().

But there was no warning in Documentation/feature-removal-schedule.txt
and I'm receiving reports that it's breaking userspace apps (the
gstreamer-v4l2 plugin breaks in Fedora rawhide). You can't just pull
things from the published userspace API like that.
Please can we revert the addition of _DEPRECATED to these ioctl
definitions. Perhaps we can add a runtime warning if they actually get
used? Or a compile-time warning if we can manage that?

Commit e9df2e8fd8 ("[IPV6]: Use
appropriate sock tclass setting for routing lookup.") also changed the
way that ECN capable transports mark this capability in IPv6. As a
result, SCTP was not marking ECN capablity because the traffic class
was never set. This patch brings back the markings for IPv6 traffic.

When we are trying to fast retransmit the lowest outstanding TSN, we
need to restart the T3-RTX timer, so that subsequent timeouts will
correctly tag all the packets necessary for retransmissions.

Once upon a time, the MTD repository was using CVS.
