ANDROID: fips140: add userspace interface for evaluation testing
The FIPS lab is required to test the service indicators and version information services of the module, i.e. the fips140_is_approved_service() and fips140_module_version() functions. There are several ways we could support this: - Implement the tests in the module ourselves. However it's unclear that CMVP would allow this, and we would need the full list of tests, which could change over time depending on what the lab decides to do. - Support the lab writing, building, and loading a custom kernel module (or a custom kernel image) that tests these functions. - Provide a userspace interface to these services, restricted to builds with CONFIG_CRYPTO_FIPS140_MOD_EVAL_TESTING=y. This would allow writing the tests in userspace, which would be much easier. Implement the last solution, since it's the easier of the two solutions that are "guaranteed" to be allowed. Make the module register a char device which supports some ioctls, one per function that needs to be tested. Also provide some sample userspace code in samples/crypto/. Note: copy_to_user() would break the integrity check, so take some care to exclude it. This is allowed since this is non-production code. scripts/lld-version.sh: Rewrite based on upstream ld-version.sh
This patch is for linux-5.10.y only.
When scripts/lld-version.sh was initially written, it did not account
for the LLD_VENDOR cmake flag, which changes the output of ld.lld's
--version flag slightly.
Without LLD_VENDOR:
$ ld.lld --version
LLD 14.0.0 (compatible with GNU linkers)
With LLD_VENDOR:
$ ld.lld --version
Debian LLD 14.0.0 (compatible with GNU linkers)
As a result, CONFIG_LLD_VERSION is messed up and configuration values
that are dependent on it cannot be selected:

ld-version.sh script if LLD was built with LLD_VENDOR") in 5.12 but that
was done to ld-version.sh after it was massively rewritten in
commit 02aff8592204 ("kbuild: check the minimum linker version in
Kconfig").
To avoid bringing in that change plus its prerequisites and fixes, just
modify lld-version.sh to make it similar to the upstream ld-version.sh,
which handles ld.lld with or without LLD_VENDOR and ld.bfd without any
errors.

leaking_addresses: Always print a trailing newline

ANDROID: module: apply special LTO treatment to .text even if CFI is disabled
We currently only emit directives for handling the .text section into
the module linker script if both LTO and CFI are enabled, while for
other sections, we do this even if CFI is not enabled. This is
inconsistent at best, but as it also interferes with the assumption in
the fips140.ko module that the .text._start and .text._end input
sections are placed at the very start and end of the .text section,
which currently can only be relied upon if CFI is enabled.
So rearrange the #ifdef so that it only covers the .text.__cfi_check
input section. Note that aligning to page size is likely to be redundant
in any case, given that the .text section is laid out first, and module
allocations are page aligned to begin with, so making that part
unconditional is unlikely to make an observeable difference in the
output.

UPSTREAM: ubsan: remove overflow checks
Since GCC 8.0 -fsanitize=signed-integer-overflow doesn't work with
-fwrapv. -fwrapv makes signed overflows defines and GCC essentially
disables ubsan checks. On GCC < 8.0 -fwrapv doesn't have influence on
-fsanitize=signed-integer-overflow setting, so it kinda works but
generates false-positves and violates uaccess rules:
lib/iov_iter.o: warning: objtool: iovec_from_user()+0x22d: call to
__ubsan_handle_add_overflow() with UACCESS enabled
Disable signed overflow checks to avoid these problems. Remove unsigned
overflow checks as well. Unsigned overflow appeared as side effect of
commit cdf8a76fda4a ("ubsan: move cc-option tests into Kconfig"), but it
never worked (kernel doesn't boot). And unsigned overflows are allowed by
C standard, so it just pointless.

UPSTREAM: ubsan: remove redundant -Wno-maybe-uninitialized
Patch series "Clean up UBSAN Makefile", v2.
This series attempts to address the issues seen with UBSAN's object-size
sanitizer causing problems under GCC. In the process, the Kconfig and
Makefile are refactored to do all the cc-option calls in the Kconfig.
Additionally start to detangle -Wno-maybe-uninitialized, disable
UBSAN_TRAP under COMPILE_TEST for wider build coverage, and expand the
libusan tests.

nds32/ftrace: Fix Error: invalid operands (*UND* and *UND* sections) for `^'

I received a build failure for a new patch I'm working on the nds32
architecture, and when I went to test it, I couldn't get to my build error,
because it failed to build with a bunch of:
Error: invalid operands (*UND* and *UND* sections) for `^'
issues with various files. Those files were temporary asm files that looked
like: kernel/.tmp_mc_fork.s
I decided to look deeper, and found that the "mc" portion of that name
stood for "mcount", and was created by the recordmcount.pl script. One that
I wrote over a decade ago. Once I knew the source of the problem, I was
able to investigate it further.
The way the recordmcount.pl script works (BTW, there's a C version that
simply modifies the ELF object) is by doing an "objdump" on the object
file. Looks for all the calls to "mcount", and creates an offset of those
locations from some global variable it can use (usually a global function
name, found with <.*>:). Creates a asm file that is a table of references
to these locations, using the found variable/function. Compiles it and
links it back into the original object file. This asm file is called
".tmp_mc_<object_base_name>.s".
The problem here is that the objdump produced by the nds32 object file,
contains things that look like:

Where ".L3^B1 is somehow selected as the "global" variable to index off of.
Then the assembly file that holds the mcount locations looks like this:

the compile fails on the "^" symbol.
Simple solution for now, is to have the perl script ignore using function
symbols that have an "^" in the name.

When CONFIG_TRIM_UNUSED_KSYMS is enabled, I see some warnings like this:
nm: arch/x86/entry/vdso/vdso32/note.o: no symbols
$NM (both GNU nm and llvm-nm) warns when no symbol is found in the
object. Suppress the stderr.
Fangrui Song mentioned binutils>=2.37 `nm -q` can be used to suppress
"no symbols" [1], and llvm-nm>=13.0.0 supports -q as well.
We cannot use it for now, but note it as a TODO.

kbuild: mkcompile_h: consider timestamp if KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is set
[ Upstream commit a979522a1a88556e42a22ce61bccc58e304cb361 ] To avoid unnecessary recompilations, mkcompile_h does not regenerate compile.h if just the timestamp changed. Though, if KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is set, an explicit timestamp for the build was requested, in which case we should not ignore it. If a user follows the documentation for reproducible builds [1] and defines KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP as the git commit timestamp, a clean build will have the correct timestamp. A subsequent cherry-pick (or amend) changes the commit timestamp and if an incremental build is done with a different KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP now, that new value is not taken into consideration. But it should for reproducibility. Hence, whenever KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is explicitly set, do not ignore UTS_VERSION when making a decision about whether the regenerated version of compile.h should be moved into place. kbuild: sink stdout from cmd for silent build

When building with 'make -s', no output to stdout should be printed.
As Arnd Bergmann reported [1], mkimage shows the detailed information
of the generated images.
I think this should be suppressed by the 'cmd' macro instead of by
individual scripts.
Insert 'exec >/dev/null;' in order to redirect stdout to /dev/null for
silent builds.
[Note about this implementation]
'exec >/dev/null;' may look somewhat tricky, but this has a reason.
Appending '>/dev/null' at the end of command line is a common way for
redirection, so I first tried this:
cmd = @set -e; $(echo-cmd) $(cmd_$(1)) >/dev/null
... but it would not work if $(cmd_$(1)) itself contains a redirection.
For example, cmd_wrap in scripts/Makefile.asm-generic redirects the
output from the 'echo' command into the target file.
It would be expanded into:
echo "#include <asm-generic/$*.h>" > $@ >/dev/null
Then, the target file gets empty because the string will go to /dev/null
instead of $@.
Next, I tried this:
cmd = @set -e; $(echo-cmd) { $(cmd_$(1)); } >/dev/null
The form above would be expanded into:
{ echo "#include <asm-generic/$*.h>" > $@; } >/dev/null
This works as expected. However, it would be a syntax error if
$(cmd_$(1)) is empty.
When CONFIG_TRIM_UNUSED_KSYMS is disabled, $(call cmd,gen_ksymdeps) in
scripts/Makefile.build would be expanded into:
set -e; { ; } >/dev/null
..., which causes an syntax error.
I also tried this:
cmd = @set -e; $(echo-cmd) ( $(cmd_$(1)) ) >/dev/null
... but this causes a syntax error for the same reason.
So, finally I adopted:
cmd = @set -e; $(echo-cmd) exec >/dev/null; $(cmd_$(1))

kbuild: Fix objtool dependency for 'OBJECT_FILES_NON_STANDARD_<obj> := n'

"OBJECT_FILES_NON_STANDARD_vma.o := n" has a dependency bug. When
objtool source is updated, the affected object doesn't get re-analyzed
by objtool.
Peter's new variable-sized jump label feature relies on objtool
rewriting the object file. Otherwise the system can fail to boot. That
effectively upgrades this minor dependency issue to a major bug.
The problem is that variables in prerequisites are expanded early,
during the read-in phase. The '$(objtool_dep)' variable indirectly uses
'$@', which isn't yet available when the target prerequisites are
evaluated.
Use '.SECONDEXPANSION:' which causes '$(objtool_dep)' to be expanded in
a later phase, after the target-specific '$@' variable has been defined.

Makefile: fix GDB warning with CONFIG_RELR
[ Upstream commit 27f2a4db76e8d8a8b601fc1c6a7a17f88bd907ab ] GDB produces the following warning when debugging kernels built with CONFIG_RELR: BFD: /android0/linux-next/vmlinux: unknown type [0x13] section `.relr.dyn' when loading a kernel built with CONFIG_RELR into GDB. It can also prevent debugging symbols using such relocations. Peter sugguests: [That flag] means that lld will use dynamic tags and section type numbers in the OS-specific range rather than the generic range. The kernel itself doesn't care about these numbers; it determines the location of the RELR section using symbols defined by a linker script. FROMLIST: kbuild: mkcompile_h: consider timestamp if KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is set
To avoid unnecessary recompilations, mkcompile_h does not regenerate compile.h if just the timestamp changed. Though, if KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is set, an explicit timestamp for the build was requested, in which case we should not ignore it. If a user follows the documentation for reproducible builds [1] and defines KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP as the git commit timestamp, a clean build will have the correct timestamp. A subsequent cherry-pick (or amend) changes the commit timestamp and if an incremental build is done with a different KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP now, that new value is not taken into consideration. But it should for reproducibility. Hence, whenever KBUILD_BUILD_TIMESTAMP is explicitly set, do not ignore UTS_VERSION when making a decision about whether the regenerated version of compile.h should be moved into place. ANDROID: crypto: fips140 - perform load time integrity check
In order to comply with FIPS 140-2 requirements, implement a fips140
module that carries all AES, SHA-xxx and DRBG implementations with the
associated chaining mode templates, and perform an integrity selfcheck
at load time. The algorithms contained in the module will be registered
with the crypto API, and will supersede any existing copies of the same
algorithms that were already being provided by the core kernel.

UPSTREAM: kbuild: lto: Merge module sections if and only if CONFIG_LTO_CLANG is enabled
Merge module sections only when using Clang LTO. With ld.bfd, merging
sections does not appear to update the symbol tables for the module,
e.g. 'readelf -s' shows the value that a symbol would have had, if
sections were not merged. ld.lld does not show this problem.
The stale symbol table breaks gdb's function disassembler, and presumably
other things, e.g.
gdb -batch -ex "file arch/x86/kvm/kvm.ko" -ex "disassemble kvm_init"
reads the wrong bytes and dumps garbage.

BACKPORT: kbuild: fix UNUSED_KSYMS_WHITELIST for Clang LTO
Commit fbe078d397b4 ("kbuild: lto: add a default list of used symbols")
does not work as expected if the .config file has already specified
CONFIG_UNUSED_KSYMS_WHITELIST="my/own/white/list" before enabling
CONFIG_LTO_CLANG.
So, the user-supplied whitelist and LTO-specific white list must be
independent of each other.
I refactored the shell script so CONFIG_MODVERSIONS and CONFIG_CLANG_LTO
handle whitelists in the same way.

Clang can generate R_RISCV_CALL_PLT relocations to _mcount:

After this, the __start_mcount_loc section is properly generated and
function tracing still works.

kbuild: generate Module.symvers only when vmlinux exists

The external module build shows the following warning if Module.symvers
is missing in the kernel tree.
WARNING: Symbol version dump "Module.symvers" is missing.
Modules may not have dependencies or modversions.
I think this is an important heads-up because the resulting modules may
not work as expected. This happens when you did not build the entire
kernel tree, for example, you might have prepared the minimal setups
for external modules by 'make defconfig && make modules_preapre'.
A problem is that 'make modules' creates Module.symvers even without
vmlinux. In this case, that warning is suppressed since Module.symvers
already exists in spite of its incomplete content.
The incomplete (i.e. invalid) Module.symvers should not be created.
This commit changes the second pass of modpost to dump symbols into
modules-only.symvers. The final Module.symvers is created by
concatenating vmlinux.symvers and modules-only.symvers if both exist.
Module.symvers is supposed to collect symbols from both vmlinux and
modules. It might be a bit confusing, and I am not quite sure if it
is an official interface, but presumably it is difficult to rename it
because some tools (e.g. kmod) parse it.

kconfig: nconf: stop endless search loops
[ Upstream commit 8c94b430b9f6213dec84e309bb480a71778c4213 ] If the user selects the very first entry in a page and performs a search-up operation, or selects the very last entry in a page and performs a search-down operation that will not succeed (e.g., via [/]asdfzzz[Up Arrow]), nconf will never terminate searching the page. The reason is that in this case, the starting point will be set to -1 or n, which is then translated into (n - 1) (i.e., the last entry of the page) or 0 (i.e., the first entry of the page) and finally the search begins. This continues to work fine until the index reaches 0 or (n - 1), at which point it will be decremented to -1 or incremented to n, but not checked against the starting point right away. Instead, it's wrapped around to the bottom or top again, after which the starting point check occurs... and naturally fails. My original implementation added another check for -1 before wrapping the running index variable around, but Masahiro Yamada pointed out that the actual issue is that the comparison point (starting point) exceeds bounds (i.e., the [0,n-1] interval) in the first place and that, instead, the starting point should be fixed. This has the welcome side-effect of also fixing the case where the starting point was n while searching down, which also lead to an infinite loop. OTOH, this code is now essentially all his work. Amazingly, nobody seems to have been hit by this for 11 years - or at the very least nobody bothered to debug and fix this. ANDROID: Add missing CFI jump table symbols to kallsyms
With CONFIG_LTO_CLANG_FULL, LLVM drops all CFI jump table symbols from vmlinux, which doesn't affect kernel functionality, but can make stack traces and other kernel output that prints out jump table addresses harder to read. This change works around the issue for now by adding a script that tells kallsyms about the missing jump table symbols, even though they don't actually exist in the symbol table, and generates a linker script to add the missing symbols to kernel modules.
