4bcbc25ce7 drm/amdgpu/sriov set driver_table address in VF
With the recent patch to unify VRAM address for driver
table(a83f82e). VF cannot dump table info any more because
SMU_MSG_SetDriverDramAddrHigh/Low were deleted in the
function of smu_update_table.

Therefore, VF also needs to set driver_table address
in smu_hw_init to fix this regression issue.

e62bf83aa1 drm/irq: remove check on dev->dev_private
There is no real reason to require drivers to set and use
dev->dev_private. Indeed, the current recommendation, as documented in
drm_device.h, is to embed struct drm_device in the per-device struct
instead of using dev_private.

Remove the requirement for dev_private to have been set to indicate
driver initialization.

For background, quoting Daniel Vetter:

Now there might be some hilarious races this papers over, but:

- Proper drivers should only call drm_dev_register once everything is
  set up, including this stuff here. No race possible with anything else
  really.

- Slightly more wobbly drivers, including the legacy ones, all use
  drm_global_mutex. This was the former BKL, which means that it was
  impossible for soeone to go through the load/unload/reload (between
  lastclose and firstopen) paths and also run the ioctl. But the ioctl
  had to be made unlocked because blocking there killed X:

  The even more legacy DRM_CONTROL ioctl stayed fully locked. But the
  file open/close paths are still fully locked, and that's the only

  all still be fully ordered and protected and happy.

9cc68ee1d9 drm/msm: Fix a6xx GMU shutdown sequence
Commit e812744c5f ("drm: msm: a6xx: Add support for A618") missed
updating the VBIF flush in a6xx_gmu_shutdown and instead
inserted the new sequence into a6xx_pm_suspend along with a redundant
GMU idle.

Move a6xx_bus_clear_pending_transactions to a6xx_gmu.c and use it in
the appropriate place in the shutdown routine and remove the redundant
idle call.

56d977d561 drm/msm/a6xx: Remove unneeded GBIF unhalt
Commit e812744c5f ("drm: msm: a6xx: Add support for A618") added a
universal GBIF un-halt into a6xx_start(). This can cause problems for
a630 targets which do not use GBIF and might have access protection
enabled on the region now occupied by the GBIF registers.

But it turns out that we didn't need to unhalt the GBIF in this path
since the stop function already takes care of that after executing a flush
but before turning off the headswitch. We should be confident that the
GBIF is open for business when we restart the hardware.

7fd2dfc369 drm: msm: Fix return type of dsi_mgr_connector_mode_valid for kCFI
I was hitting kCFI crashes when building with clang, and after
some digging finally narrowed it down to the
dsi_mgr_connector_mode_valid() function being implemented as
returning an int, instead of an enum drm_mode_status.

This patch fixes it, and appeases the opaque word of the kCFI
gods (seriously, clang inlining everything makes the kCFI
backtraces only really rough estimates of where things went
wrong).

Thanks as always to Sami for his help narrowing this down.

6313e78e72 drm/i915/selftests: Relax timeout for error-interrupt reset processing
We can not require that the system process a tasklet in reasonable time
(thanks be to ksoftirqd), but we can insist that having waited
sufficiently for the error interrupt to have been raised and having
kicked the tasklet, the reset has begun and the request will be marked
as in error (if not already completed).

4017ad7bbc drm: Nerf drm_global_mutex BKL for good drivers
This catches the majority of drivers (unfortunately not if we take
users into account, because all the big drivers have at least a
lastclose hook).

With the prep patches out of the way all drm state is fully protected
and either prevents or can deal with the races from dropping the BKL
around open/close. The only thing left to audit are the various driver
hooks - by keeping the BKL around if any of them are set we have a
very simple cop-out!

Note that one of the biggest prep pieces to get here was making
dev->open_count atomic, which was done in

591a2abf14 drm: Push drm_global_mutex locking in drm_open
We want to only take the BKL on crap drivers, but to know whether
we have a crap driver we first need to look it up. Split this shuffle
out from the main BKL-disabling patch, for more clarity. Historical
aside: When the kernel-wide BKL was removed, it was replaced by
drm_global_mutex within the scope of the drm subsystem hence why these
two things are (almost) interchangeable as concepts here.

Since the minors are refcounted drm_minor_acquire is purely internal
and this does not have a driver visible effect.

v2: Push the locking even further into drm_open(), suggested by Chris.
This gives us more symmetry with drm_release(), and maybe a futuer
avenue where we make drm_global_mutex locking (partially) opt-in like
with drm_release_noglobal().

c368ec194d drm/client: Rename _force to _locked
Plus extend the kerneldoc a bit to explain how this should be used.
With the previous patch to drop the force restore the main user of
this function is not emphasis on the "I hold the internal master lock
already" aspect, so rename the function to match.

64914da24e drm/fbdev-helper: don't force restores
Instead check for master status, in case we've raced.

This is the last exception to the general rule that we restore fbcon
only when there's no master active. Compositors are supposed to drop
their master status before they switch to a different console back to
text mode (or just switch to text mode directly, without a vt switch).

This is known to break some subtests of kms_fbcon_fbt in igt, but they're
just wrong - it does a graphics/text mode switch for the vt without
updating the master status.

Also add a comment to the drm_client->restore hook that this is expected
going forward from all clients (there's currently just one).

e844141413 drm/i915/dsi_vbt: convert to drm_device based logging macros.
Convert various instances of the printk based drm logging macros to the
struct drm_device based logging macros in i915/display/intel_dsi_vbt.c.
This also involves extracting the drm_i915_private device from the
intel_dsi type for use in the logging macros.

This converts DRM_DEBUG/DRM_DEBUG_DRIVER to drm_dbg().

Provides a callback (i.e. mtk_hdmi_audio_hook_plugged_cb) to hdmi-codec.
When ASoC machine driver calls hdmi_codec_set_jack_detect(), the

e4edd4fcbf drm/i915: Check activity on i915_vma after confirming pin_count==0
Only assert that the i915_vma is now idle if and only if no other pins
are present. If another user has the i915_vma pinned, they may submit
more work to the i915_vma skipping the vm->mutex used to serialise the
unbind. We need to wait again, if we want to continue and unbind this
vma.

However, if we own the i915_vma (we hold the vm->mutex for the unbind
and the pin_count is 0), we can assert that the vma remains idle as we
unbind.

07ccd6bdaf drm/i915/gem: Store mmap_offsets in an rbtree rather than a plain list
Currently we create a new mmap_offset for every call to
mmap_offset_ioctl. This exposes ourselves to an abusive client that may
simply create new mmap_offsets ad infinitum, which will exhaust physical
memory and the virtual address space. In addition to the exhaustion, a
very long linear list of mmap_offsets causes other clients using the
object to incur long list walks -- these long lists can also be
generated by simply having many clients generate their own mmap_offset.

However, we can simply use the drm_vma_node itself to manage the file
association (allow/revoke) dropping our need to keep an mmo per-file.
Then if we keep a small rbtree of per-type mmap_offsets, we can lookup
duplicate requests quickly.

a754012b9f drm/i915/execlists: Leave resetting ring to intel_ring
We need to allow concurrent intel_context_unpin, which means avoiding
doing destructive operations like intel_ring_reset(). This was already
fixed for intel_ring_unpin() in commit 0725d9a318 ("drm/i915/gt: Make
intel_ring_unpin() safe for concurrent pint"), but I overlooked that
execlists_context_unpin() also made the same mistake.

Currently the cursor is placed on the first overlay plane, which means
it will be at the bottom of the stack when the hw does the compositing
with anything other than primary plane. Since mtk doesn't support plane

cbc1f3cb67 drm/i915: Skip CPU synchronisation on dmabuf attachments
dma-bufs are device coherent, with explicit CPU synchronisation provided
via the begin/end cpu access ioctls. As the coherency of the dma-buf is
explicitly defined to be under user control, flushing any caches on
attach/detach of the dma-buf is additional work that doesn't aide the
user in the slightest.
