8d38de6564 xprtrdma: Make FRWR send queue entry accounting more accurate
Verbs providers may perform house-keeping on the Send Queue during
each signaled send completion. It is necessary therefore for a verbs
consumer (like xprtrdma) to occasionally force a signaled send
completion if it runs unsignaled most of the time.

xprtrdma does not require signaled completions for Send or FastReg
Work Requests, but does signal some LocalInv Work Requests. To
ensure that Send Queue house-keeping can run before the Send Queue
is more than half-consumed, xprtrdma forces a signaled completion
on occasion by counting the number of Send Queue Entries it
consumes. It currently does this by counting each ib_post_send as
one Entry.

Commit c9918ff56d ("xprtrdma: Add ro_unmap_sync method for FRWR")
introduced the ability for frwr_op_unmap_sync to post more than one
Work Request with a single post_send. Thus the underlying assumption
of one Send Queue Entry per ib_post_send is no longer true.

Also, FastReg Work Requests are currently never signaled. They
should be signaled once in a while, just as Send is, to keep the
accounting of consumed SQEs accurate.

While we're here, convert the CQCOUNT macros to the currently
preferred kernel coding style, which is inline functions.

62aee0e302 xprtrdma: Cap size of callback buffer resources
When the inline threshold size is set to large values (say, 32KB)
any NFSv4.1 CB request from the server gets a reply with status
NFS4ERR_RESOURCE.

Looks like there are some upper layer assumptions about the maximum
size of a reply (for example, in process_op). Cap the size of the
NFSv4 client's reply resources at a page.

8da3dc5334 doc: debugobjects: actually pull in the kerneldoc comments
Add the appropriate markup to get the kerneldoc comments out of
lib/debugobjects.c that have never seen the light of day until now.

A logical next step, left for the reader at the moment, is to move the
function descriptions *out* of debug-objects.rst and into the kerneldoc
comments themselves.

93dc3a112b doc: Convert the debugobjects DocBook template to sphinx
A couple of the most minor heading tweaks, otherwise no changes to the text
itself beyond the mechanical conversion.

Note that the inclusion of the kerneldoc comments from the source has never
worked, since exported symbols were asked for and none of those functions
are exported to modules.  It doesn't work here either :)

cc9086e772 i2c: qup: support SMBus block read
I2C QUP driver relies on SMBus emulation support from the framework.
To handle SMBus block reads, the driver should check I2C_M_RECV_LEN
flag and should read the first byte received as the message length.

The driver configures the QUP hardware to read one byte. Once the
message length is known from this byte, the QUP hardware is configured
to read the rest.

4763601a56 ALSA: usb-audio: Fix bogus error return in snd_usb_create_stream()
The function returns -EINVAL even if it builds the stream properly.
The bogus error code sneaked in during the code refactoring, but it
wasn't noticed until now since the returned error code itself is
ignored in anyway.  Kill it here, but there is no behavior change by
this patch, obviously.

fc90172ba2 ALSA: line6: Claim pod x3 usb data interface
Userspace apps have to claim USB interfaces before using endpoints in
them (drivers/usb/core/devio.c:checkintf()). It's a lock mechanism so
that two "drivers" don't steal data from each other. Kernel drivers don't
have to claim interfaces to work - but they should, to lock out userspace.

While there, fix line6_properties struct to match checkpatch.pl.

64e94407fb drm: Pull together probe + setup for drm_fb_helper
drm_fb_helper_probe_connector_modes() is always called before
drm_setup_crtcs(), so just move the call into drm_setup_crtcs for a
small bit of code compaction.

Note that register_framebuffer will do a modeset (when fbcon is enabled)
and hence must be moved out of the critical section. A follow-up patch
will add new locking for the fb list, hence move all the related
registration code together.

However, when holding the mode_config.lock around the fb_helper, we have
to be careful of any callbacks that may reenter the fb_helper and so try
to reacquire the mode_config.lock (e.g. register_framebuffer). To avoid
the mutex recursion, we have to rearrange the sequence to move the
registration into the caller outside of the mode_config.lock.

v2: drop the 1; following the lockdep assertion inside the for(;;), I
anticipated an error that doesn't happen!

3ce173a162 staging: lustre: obd: reserve connection flag OBD_CONNECT_FLAGS2
This is a feature for the client and server to use
obd_connect_flags2 to communicate future feature flags. The
client should set this flag whenever any flags in that field
are requested, and the server should mask unsupported features
from this field (assuming it understands OBD_CONNECT_FLAGS2).
When checking if an OBD_CONNECT2_xxxx feature is supported,
the client/server needs to firstly check if OBD_CONNECT_FLAGS2
is supported, since this field is also beyond the end of the
old obd_connect_data.

Land the connection flags to upstream client earlier for reserving
the slot to avoid potential conflict with others.

7edd7e82b9 console: Move userspace I/O out of console_lock to fix lockdep warning
When running certain workload on a debug kernel with lockdep turned on,
a ppc64 kvm guest could sometimes hit the following lockdep warning:

   lock(&mm->mmap_sem);

                                lock(&mm->mmap_sem);
   lock(cpu_hotplug.lock);

  *** DEADLOCK ***

Looking at the console code, the console_lock-->mmap_sem scenario will
only happen when reading or writing the console unicode map leading to
a page fault.

To break this circular locking dependency, all the userspace I/O
operations in consolemap.c are now moved outside of the console_lock
critical sections so that the mmap_sem won't be acquired when holding
the console_lock.

5b02962494 firmware: do not use fw_lock for fw_state protection
fw_lock is to use to protect 'corner cases' inside firmware_class. It
is not exactly clear what those corner cases are nor what it exactly
protects. fw_state can be used without needing the fw_lock to protect
its state transition and wake ups.

fw_state is holds the state in status and the completion is used to
wake up all waiters (in this case that is the user land helper so only
one). This operation has to be 'atomic' to avoid races.  We can do this
by using swait which takes care we don't miss any wake up.

We use also swait instead of wait because don't need all the additional
features wait provides.

Note there some more cleanups possible after with this change. For
example for !CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER we don't check for the state
anymore.  Let's to this in the next patch instead mingling to many
changes into this one. And yes you get a gcc warning "‘__fw_state_check’
defined but not used [-Wunused-function] code." for the time beeing.

0430cafcc4 firmware: drop bit ops in favor of simple state machine
We track the state of the firmware loading with bit ops.  Since the
state machine has only a few states and they are all mutual exclusive
there are only a few simple state transition we can model this simplify.

	   UNKNOWN -> LOADING -> DONE | ABORTED

Because we don't use any bit ops on fw_state::status anymore we are able
to change the data type to enum fw_status and update the function
arguments accordingly.

READ_ONCE() and WRITE_ONCE() are propably not needed because there are a
lot of load and stores around fw_st->status. But let's make it explicit
and not be sorry later.

f52cc37942 firmware: refactor loading status
The firmware loader tracks the current state of the loading process
via unsigned long status and a completion in struct
firmware_buf. Instead of open code tracking the state, introduce data
structure which encapsulate the state tracking and synchronization.

While at it also separate UHM states from direct loading states, e.g.
the loading_timeout is only defined when CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER.

2e700f8d85 firmware: fix usermode helper fallback loading
When you use the firmware usermode helper fallback with a timeout value set to a
value greater than INT_MAX (2147483647) a cast overflow issue causes the
timeout value to go negative and breaks all usermode helper loading. This
regression was introduced through commit 68ff2a00db ("firmware_loader:
handle timeout via wait_for_completion_interruptible_timeout()") on kernel
v4.0.

The firmware_class drivers relies on the firmware usermode helper
fallback as a mechanism to look for firmware if the direct filesystem
search failed only if:

  a) You've enabled CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER_FALLBACK (not many distros):

  Then all of these callers will rely on the fallback mechanism in case
  the firmware is not found through an initial direct filesystem lookup:

  o request_firmware()
  o request_firmware_into_buf()
  o request_firmware_nowait()

  b) If you've only enabled CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER (most distros):

  Then only callers using request_firmware_nowait() with the second
  argument set to false, this explicitly is requesting the UMH firmware
  fallback to be relied on in case the first filesystem lookup fails.

  Using Coccinelle SmPL grammar we have identified only two drivers
  explicitly requesting the UMH firmware fallback mechanism:

  - drivers/firmware/dell_rbu.c
  - drivers/leds/leds-lp55xx-common.c

Since most distributions only enable CONFIG_FW_LOADER_USER_HELPER the
biggest impact of this regression are users of the dell_rbu and
leds-lp55xx-common device driver which required the UMH to find their
respective needed firmwares.

The default timeout for the UMH is set to 60 seconds always, as of
commit 68ff2a00db ("firmware_loader: handle timeout via
wait_for_completion_interruptible_timeout()") the timeout was bumped
to MAX_JIFFY_OFFSET ((LONG_MAX >> 1)-1). Additionally the MAX_JIFFY_OFFSET
value was also used if the timeout was configured by a user to 0.

The following works:

echo 2147483647 > /sys/class/firmware/timeout

But both of the following set the timeout to MAX_JIFFY_OFFSET even if
we display 0 back to userspace:

echo 2147483648 > /sys/class/firmware/timeout
cat /sys/class/firmware/timeout
0

echo 0> /sys/class/firmware/timeout
cat /sys/class/firmware/timeout
0

A max value of INT_MAX (2147483647) seconds is therefore implicit due to the
another cast with simple_strtol().

This fixes the secondary cast (the first one is simple_strtol() but its an
issue only by forcing an implicit limit) by re-using the timeout variable and
only setting retval in appropriate cases.

Lastly worth noting systemd had ripped out the UMH firmware fallback
mechanism from udev since udev 2014 via commit be2ea723b1d023b3d
("udev: remove userspace firmware loading support"), so as of systemd v217.

f7b7bee75e raid5-cache: add another check conditon before replaying one stripe
New stripe that was just allocated has no STRIPE_R5C_CACHING state too,
add this check condition could avoid unnecessary replaying for empty stripe.
