9403cd7cbb virtio_net: Do not clear memory for struct virtio_net_hdr twice.
virtio_net_hdr_from_skb() clears the memory for the header, so there
is no point for the callers to do the same.

No point storing the return value of virtio_net_hdr_to_skb() or

These are never NULL, so stop making people think they might be.

I don't change this for SDIO because SDIO has a racy card-reset handler
that reallocates this struct. I'd rather not touch that mess right now.

bcf28a2f28 mwifiex: reset card->adapter during device unregister
card->adapter gets initialized in mwifiex_register_dev(). As it's not
cleared in mwifiex_unregister_dev(), we may end up accessing the memory
which is already free in below scenario.

Scenario: Driver initialization is failed due to incorrect firmware or
some other reason. Meanwhile device reboot/unload occurs.

This is safe, now that we've properly synchronized suspend() and
remove() with the FW initialization thread; now that code can simply
check for 'card->adapter == NULL' and exit safely.

4a79aa17d5 mwifiex: resolve races between async FW init (failure) and device removal
It's possible for the FW init sequence to fail, which will trigger a
device cleanup sequence in mwifiex_fw_dpc(). This sequence can race with
device suspend() or remove() (e.g., reboot or unbind), and can trigger
use-after-free issues. Currently, this driver attempts (poorly) to
synchronize remove() using a semaphore, but it doesn't protect some of
the critical sections properly. Particularly, we grab a pointer to the
adapter struct (card->adapter) without checking if it's being freed or
not. We later do a NULL check on the adapter, but that doesn't work if
the adapter was freed.

Also note that the PCIe interface driver doesn't ever set card->adapter
to NULL, so even if we get the synchronization right, we still might try
to redo the cleanup in ->remove(), even if the FW init failure sequence
already did it.

This patch replaces the static semaphore with a per-device completion
struct, and uses that completion to synchronize the remove() thread with
the mwifiex_fw_dpc(). A future patch will utilize this completion to
synchronize the suspend() thread as well.

eb2428fb1a mwifiex: check tx_hw_pending before downloading sleep confirm
We may get SLEEP event from firmware even if TXDone interrupt
for last Tx packet is still pending. In this case, we may
end up accessing PCIe memory for handling TXDone after power
save handshake is completed. This causes kernel crash with
external abort.

This patch will only allow downloading sleep confirm
when no tx done interrupt is pending in the hardware.

Commit ce4f6f0c35 ("mwifiex: add platform specific wakeup interrupt
support") added WoWLAN feature only for sdio. This patch moves that
code to the common module so that all the interface drivers can use
it for free. It enables pcie and sdio for its use currently.

5e28e5fbdc mwifiex: Introduce mwifiex_probe_of() to parse common properties
Introduce function mwifiex_probe_of() to parse common properties.
Interface drivers get to decide whether or not the device tree node
was a valid one (depending on the compatible property),
Lets fill "adapter->dt_node" in mwifiex_add_card().

The function mwifiex_probe_of() is currently only a place holder with
the next patch adding content to it.

2e02b58142 mwifiex: Allow mwifiex early access to device structure
Today all the interface drivers (usb/pcie/sdio) assign the
adapter->dev in the register_dev() callback, although they
have this piece of info well before hand.

This patch makes the device structure available for mwifiex
right at the beginning, so that it can be used for early
initialization if needed.

This is needed for subsequent patches in this patchset that
intend to unify and consolidate some of the code that would
otherwise have to be duplicated among the interface drivers
(sdio, pcie, usb).

1a9bbccaf8 sunbmac: Fix compiler warning
sunbmac uses '__u32' for dma handle while invoking kernel DMA APIs,
instead of using dma_addr_t. This hasn't caused any 'incompatible
pointer type' warning on SPARC because until now dma_addr_t is of
type u32. However, recent changes in SPARC ATU (iommu) enables 64bit
DMA and therefore dma_addr_t becomes of type u64. This makes
'incompatible pointer type' warnings inevitable.

ab677ff4ad cxgb4: Allocate Tx queues dynamically
Allocate resources dynamically for Upper layer driver's (ULD) like
cxgbit, iw_cxgb4, cxgb4i and chcr. The resources allocated include Tx
queues which are allocated when ULD register with cxgb4 driver and freed
while un-registering. The Tx queues which are shared by ULD shall be
allocated by first registering driver and un-allocated by last
unregistering driver.

0827be21a0 net: fsl: Allow most drivers to be built with COMPILE_TEST
There are only a handful of Freescale Ethernet drivers that don't
actually build with COMPILE_TEST:

* FEC, for which we would need to define a default register layout if no
  supported architecture is defined

* UCC_GETH which depends on PowerPC cpm.h header (which could be moved
  to a generic location)

* GIANFAR needs to depend on HAS_DMA to fix linking failures on some
  architectures (like m32r)

We need to fix an unmet dependency to get there though:
warning: (FSL_XGMAC_MDIO) selects OF_MDIO which has unmet direct
dependencies (OF && PHYLIB)

which would result in CONFIG_OF_MDIO=[ym] without CONFIG_OF to be set.

Add generic helper to undo the effects of cpsw_probe_dt(), which will
also be used in a follow-on patch to fix further leaks that have been
introduced more recently.

Note that the platform device is now runtime-resumed before registering
any child devices in order to make sure that it is synchronously
suspended after having deregistered the children in the error path.

An alternative fix is to assure that IFF_UP gets cleared by
calling dev_close() during shutdown. This is similar to what the
bnx2/tg3/xgene and maybe others are doing to assure that the driver
isn't being called following _shutdown().

46d1efd852 sfc: remove Software TSO
It gives no advantage over GSO now that xmit_more exists.  If we find
 ourselves unable to handle a TSO skb (because our TXQ doesn't have a
 TSOv2 context and the NIC doesn't support TSOv1), hand it back to GSO.
 Also do that if the TSO handler fails with EINVAL for any other reason.
As Falcon-architecture NICs don't support any firmware-assisted TSO,
 they no longer advertise TSO feature flags at all.

e9117e5099 sfc: Firmware-Assisted TSO version 2
Add support for FATSOv2 to the driver. FATSOv2 offloads far more of the task
 of TCP segmentation to the firmware, such that we now just pass a single
 super-packet to the NIC. This means TSO has a great deal in common with a
 normal DMA transmit, apart from adding a couple of option descriptors.
 NIC-specific checks have been moved off the fast path and in to
 initialisation where possible.

This also moves FATSOv1/SWTSO to a new file (tx_tso.c).  The end of transmit
 and some error handling is now outside TSO, since it is common with other
 code.

c7d03a00b5 netns: make struct pernet_operations::id unsigned int
Make struct pernet_operations::id unsigned.

There are 2 reasons to do so:

1)
This field is really an index into an zero based array and
thus is unsigned entity. Using negative value is out-of-bound
access by definition.

2)
On x86_64 unsigned 32-bit data which are mixed with pointers
via array indexing or offsets added or subtracted to pointers
are preffered to signed 32-bit data.

"int" being used as an array index needs to be sign-extended
to 64-bit before being used.

	void f(long *p, int i)
	{
		g(p[i]);
	}

  roughly translates to

	movsx	rsi, esi
	mov	rdi, [rsi+...]
	call 	g

MOVSX is 3 byte instruction which isn't necessary if the variable is
unsigned because x86_64 is zero extending by default.

Now, there is net_generic() function which, you guessed it right, uses
"int" as an array index:

And this function is used a lot, so those sign extensions add up.

Patch snipes ~1730 bytes on allyesconfig kernel (without all junk
messing with code generation):

	add/remove: 0/0 grow/shrink: 70/598 up/down: 396/-2126 (-1730)

Unfortunately some functions actually grow bigger.
This is a semmingly random artefact of code generation with register
allocator being used differently. gcc decides that some variable
needs to live in new r8+ registers and every access now requires REX
prefix. Or it is shifted into r12, so [r12+0] addressing mode has to be
used which is longer than [r8]

However, overall balance is in negative direction:
