f1adceaf01 x86/kvm/hyper-v: recommend using eVMCS only when it is enabled
We shouldn't probably be suggesting using Enlightened VMCS when it's not
enabled (not supported from guest's point of view). Hyper-V on KVM seems
to be fine either way but let's be consistent.

3a33d030da kvm: x86/vmx: Use kzalloc for cached_vmcs12
This changes the allocation of cached_vmcs12 to use kzalloc instead of
kmalloc. This removes the information leak found by Syzkaller (see
Reported-by) in this case and prevents similar leaks from happening
based on cached_vmcs12.

It also changes vmx_get_nested_state to copy out the full 4k VMCS12_SIZE
in copy_to_user rather than only the size of the struct.

Tested: rebuilt against head, booted, and ran the syszkaller repro
  https://syzkaller.appspot.com/text?tag=ReproC&x=174efca3400000 without
  observing any problems.

5cc244a20b KVM: x86: Fix single-step debugging
The single-step debugging of KVM guests on x86 is broken: if we run
gdb 'stepi' command at the breakpoint when the guest interrupts are
enabled, RIP always jumps to native_apic_mem_write(). Then other
nasty effects follow.

Long investigation showed that on Jun 7, 2017 the
commit c8401dda2f ("KVM: x86: fix singlestepping over syscall")
introduced the kvm_run.debug corruption: kvm_vcpu_do_singlestep() can
be called without X86_EFLAGS_TF set.

Let's fix it. Please consider that for -stable.

0d6040d468 arch: add split IPC system calls where needed
The IPC system call handling is highly inconsistent across architectures,
some use sys_ipc, some use separate calls, and some use both.  We also
have some architectures that require passing IPC_64 in the flags, and
others that set it implicitly.

For the addition of a y2038 safe semtimedop() system call, I chose to only
support the separate entry points, but that requires first supporting
the regular ones with their own syscall numbers.

The IPC_64 is now implied by the new semctl/shmctl/msgctl system
calls even on the architectures that require passing it with the ipc()
multiplexer.

I'm not adding the new semtimedop() or semop() on 32-bit architectures,
those will get implemented using the new semtimedop_time64() version
that gets added along with the other time64 calls.
Three 64-bit architectures (powerpc, s390 and sparc) get semtimedop().

After commit

  5d32a66541 ("PCI/ACPI: Allow ACPI to be built without CONFIG_PCI set")

dependencies on CONFIG_PCI that previously were satisfied implicitly
through dependencies on CONFIG_ACPI have to be specified directly.

PCI_LOCKLESS_CONFIG depends on PCI but this dependency has not been
mentioned in the Kconfig so add an explicit dependency here and fix

bae54dc4f3 x86/fpu: Get rid of CONFIG_AS_FXSAVEQ
This was a "workaround" to probe for binutils which could generate
FXSAVEQ, apparently gas with min version 2.16. In the meantime, minimal
required gas version is 2.20 so all those workarounds for older binutils
can be dropped.

ee35b9b9f6 x86/traps: Have read_cr0() only once in the #NM handler
... instead of twice in the code. In any case, CR0 ends up being read
once anyway:

1. The CONFIG_MATH_EMULATION case does so and exits.
2. The normal case does it once too.

However, read it on function entry instead to make the code even simpler
to follow.

No functional changes.

88dbe3c94e perf/core, arch/x86: Strengthen exclusion checks with PERF_PMU_CAP_NO_EXCLUDE
For x86 PMUs that do not support context exclusion let's advertise the
PERF_PMU_CAP_NO_EXCLUDE capability. This ensures that perf will
prevent us from handling events where any exclusion flags are set.
Let's also remove the now unnecessary check for exclusion flags.

This change means that amd/iommu and amd/uncore will now also
indicate that they do not support exclude_{hv|idle} and intel/uncore
that it does not support exclude_{guest|host}.

6e693b3ffe x86: uaccess: Inhibit speculation past access_ok() in user_access_begin()
Commit 594cc251fd ("make 'user_access_begin()' do 'access_ok()'")
makes the access_ok() check part of the user_access_begin() preceding a
series of 'unsafe' accesses.  This has the desirable effect of ensuring
that all 'unsafe' accesses have been range-checked, without having to
pick through all of the callsites to verify whether the appropriate
checking has been made.

However, the consolidated range check does not inhibit speculation, so
it is still up to the caller to ensure that they are not susceptible to
any speculative side-channel attacks for user addresses that ultimately
fail the access_ok() check.

This is an oversight, so use __uaccess_begin_nospec() to ensure that
speculation is inhibited until the access_ok() check has passed.

fc24d75a7f x86/entry/64/compat: Fix stack switching for XEN PV
While in the native case entry into the kernel happens on the trampoline
stack, PV Xen kernels get entered with the current thread stack right
away. Hence source and destination stacks are identical in that case,
and special care is needed.

Other than in sync_regs() the copying done on the INT80 path isn't
NMI / #MC safe, as either of these events occurring in the middle of the
stack copying would clobber data on the (source) stack.

There is similar code in interrupt_entry() and nmi(), but there is no fixup
required because those code paths are unreachable in XEN PV guests.

S3 -> S0 state transitions, which follow different code paths. Carve it

the two code paths of the state transitions converge.

093ae8f9a8 x86/TSC: Use RDTSCP
Currently, the kernel uses

  [LM]FENCE; RDTSC

in the timekeeping code, to guarantee monotonicity of time where the
*FENCE is selected based on vendor.

Replace that sequence with RDTSCP which is faster or on-par and gives
the same guarantees.

A microbenchmark on Intel shows that the change is on-par.

On AMD, the change is either on-par with the current LFENCE-prefixed
RDTSC or slightly better with RDTSCP.

The comparison is done with the LFENCE-prefixed RDTSC (and not with the
MFENCE-prefixed one, as one would normally expect) because all modern
AMD families make LFENCE serializing and thus avoid the heavy MFENCE by
effectively enabling X86_FEATURE_LFENCE_RDTSC.

e6d7bc0bdf x86/build: Use the single-argument OUTPUT_FORMAT() linker script command
The various x86 linker scripts use the three-argument linker script
command variant OUTPUT_FORMAT(DEFAULT, BIG, LITTLE) which specifies
three object file formats when the -EL and -EB linker command line
options are used. When -EB is specified, OUTPUT_FORMAT issues the BIG
object file format, when -EL, LITTLE, respectively, and when neither is
specified, DEFAULT.

However, those -E[LB] options are not used by arch/x86/ so switch to the
simple OUTPUT_FORMAT(BFDNAME) macro variant.

No functional changes.

993a110319 x86/kexec: Fix a kexec_file_load() failure
Commit

  b6664ba42f ("s390, kexec_file: drop arch_kexec_mem_walk()")

changed the behavior of kexec_locate_mem_hole(): it will try to allocate
free memory only when kbuf.mem is initialized to zero.

However, x86's kexec_file_load() implementation reuses a struct
kexec_buf allocated on the stack and its kbuf.mem member gets set by
each kexec_add_buffer() invocation.

The second kexec_add_buffer() will reuse the same kbuf but not
reinitialize kbuf.mem.

Therefore, explictily reset kbuf.mem each time in order for
kexec_locate_mem_hole() to locate a free memory region each time.

bf7d28c534 x86/mm/mem_encrypt: Fix erroneous sizeof()
Using sizeof(pointer) for determining the size of a memset() only works
when the size of the pointer and the size of type to which it points are
the same. For pte_t this is only true for 64bit and 32bit-NONPAE. On 32bit
PAE systems this is wrong as the pointer size is 4 byte but the PTE entry
is 8 bytes. It's actually not a real world issue as this code depends on
64bit, but it's wrong nevertheless.

Use sizeof(*p) for correctness sake.

a31e184e4f x86/pkeys: Properly copy pkey state at fork()
Memory protection key behavior should be the same in a child as it was
in the parent before a fork.  But, there is a bug that resets the
state in the child at fork instead of preserving it.

The creation of new mm's is a bit convoluted.  At fork(), the code
does:

  1. memcpy() the parent mm to initialize child
  2. mm_init() to initalize some select stuff stuff
  3. dup_mmap() to create true copies that memcpy() did not do right

For pkeys two bits of state need to be preserved across a fork:
'execute_only_pkey' and 'pkey_allocation_map'.

Those are preserved by the memcpy(), but mm_init() invokes
init_new_context() which overwrites 'execute_only_pkey' and
'pkey_allocation_map' with "new" values.

The author of the code erroneously believed that init_new_context is *only*
called at execve()-time.  But, alas, init_new_context() is used at execve()
and fork().

The result is that, after a fork(), the child's pkey state ends up looking
like it does after an execve(), which is totally wrong.  pkeys that are
already allocated can be allocated again, for instance.

To fix this, add code called by dup_mmap() to copy the pkey state from
parent to child explicitly.  Also add a comment above init_new_context() to
make it more clear to the next poor sod what this code is used for.

5268c8f39e always clear the X2APIC_ENABLE bit for PV guest
Commit e657fcc clears cpu capability bit instead of using fake cpuid
value, the EXTD should always be off for PV guest without depending
on cpuid value. So remove the cpuid check in xen_read_msr_safe() to
always clear the X2APIC_ENABLE bit.

927185c124 x86/build: Specify elf_i386 linker emulation explicitly for i386 objects
The kernel uses the OUTPUT_FORMAT linker script command in it's linker
scripts. Most of the time, the -m option is passed to the linker with
correct architecture, but sometimes (at least for x86_64) the -m option
contradicts the OUTPUT_FORMAT directive.

Specifically, arch/x86/boot and arch/x86/realmode/rm produce i386 object
files, but are linked with the -m elf_x86_64 linker flag when building
for x86_64.

The GNU linker manpage doesn't explicitly state any tie-breakers between
-m and OUTPUT_FORMAT. But with BFD and Gold linkers, OUTPUT_FORMAT
overrides the emulation value specified with the -m option.

LLVM lld has a different behavior, however. When supplied with
contradicting -m and OUTPUT_FORMAT values it fails with the following
error message:

  ld.lld: error: arch/x86/realmode/rm/header.o is incompatible with elf_x86_64

Therefore, just add the correct -m after the incorrect one (it overrides
it), so the linker invocation looks like this:

  ld -m elf_x86_64 -z max-page-size=0x200000 -m elf_i386 --emit-relocs -T \
    realmode.lds header.o trampoline_64.o stack.o reboot.o -o realmode.elf

This is not a functional change for GNU ld, because (although not
explicitly documented) OUTPUT_FORMAT overrides -m EMULATION.

Tested by building x86_64 kernel with GNU gcc/ld toolchain and booting
it in QEMU.

65f750e545 x86/kdump: Export the SME mask to vmcoreinfo
On AMD SME machines, makedumpfile tools need to know whether the crashed
kernel was encrypted.

If SME is enabled in the first kernel, the crashed kernel's page table
entries (pgd/pud/pmd/pte) contain the memory encryption mask which
makedumpfile needs to remove in order to obtain the true physical
address.

Export that mask in a vmcoreinfo variable.

  addresses, ld follows these rules to evaluate terms:

  Other binary operations, that is, between two relative addresses
  not in the same section, or between a relative address and an
  absolute address, first convert any non-absolute term to an
  absolute address before applying the operator."

Note that LLVM's linker does not adhere to the GNU ld's implementation
and as such requires implicitly-absolute terms to be explicitly marked
as absolute in the linker script. If not, it fails currently with:

  ld.lld: error: ./arch/x86/kernel/vmlinux.lds:153: at least one side of the expression must be absolute
  ld.lld: error: ./arch/x86/kernel/vmlinux.lds:154: at least one side of the expression must be absolute
  Makefile:1040: recipe for target 'vmlinux' failed

This is not a functional change for ld.bfd which converts the term to an
absolute symbol anyways as specified above.

90802938f7 x86/cache: Rename config option to CONFIG_X86_RESCTRL
CONFIG_RESCTRL is too generic. The final goal is to have a generic
option called like this which is selected by the arch-specific ones
CONFIG_X86_RESCTRL and CONFIG_ARM64_RESCTRL. The generic one will
cover the resctrl filesystem and other generic and shared bits of
functionality.
