160f79561e ice: do not setup vlan for loopback VSI

Currently loopback test is failiing due to the error returned from
ice_vsi_vlan_setup(). Skip calling it when preparing loopback VSI.

9ed6f97c8d ice: check (DD | EOF) bits on Rx descriptor rather than (EOP | RS)
commit 283d736ff7c7e96ac5b32c6c0de40372f8eb171e upstream.

Tx side sets EOP and RS bits on descriptors to indicate that a
particular descriptor is the last one and needs to generate an irq when
it was sent. These bits should not be checked on completion path
regardless whether it's the Tx or the Rx. DD bit serves this purpose and
it indicates that a particular descriptor is either for Rx or was
successfully Txed. EOF is also set as loopback test does not xmit
fragmented frames.

Look at (DD | EOF) bits setting in ice_lbtest_receive_frames() instead
of EOP and RS pair.

6f949e5615 i40e: Fix erroneous adapter reinitialization during recovery process
[ Upstream commit f838a63369818faadec4ad1736cfbd20ab5da00e ]

Fix an issue when driver incorrectly detects state
of recovery process and erroneously reinitializes interrupts,
which results in a kernel error and call trace message.

The issue was caused by a combination of two factors:
1. Assuming the EMP reset issued after completing
firmware recovery means the whole recovery process is complete.
2. Erroneous reinitialization of interrupt vector after detecting
the above mentioned EMP reset.

Fixes (1) by changing how recovery state change is detected
and (2) by adjusting the conditional expression to ensure using proper
interrupt reinitialization method, depending on the situation.

c6af943249 iavf: Fix handling of dummy receive descriptors

Fix memory leak caused by not handling dummy receive descriptor properly.
iavf_get_rx_buffer now sets the rx_buffer return value for dummy receive
descriptors. Without this patch, when the hardware writes a dummy
descriptor, iavf would not free the page allocated for the previous receive
buffer. This is an unlikely event but can still happen.

77836dbe35 igc: Reinstate IGC_REMOVED logic and implement it properly

The initially merged version of the igc driver code (via commit
146740f9ab, "igc: Add support for PF") contained the following
IGC_REMOVED checks in the igc_rd32/wr32() MMIO accessors:

E.g. igb has similar checks in its MMIO accessors, and has a similar
macro E1000_REMOVED, which is implemented as follows:

	#define E1000_REMOVED(h) unlikely(!(h))

These checks serve to detect and take note of an 0xffffffff MMIO read
return from the device, which can be caused by a PCIe link flap or some
other kind of PCI bus error, and to avoid performing MMIO reads and
writes from that point onwards.

However, the IGC_REMOVED macro was not originally implemented:

This led to the IGC_REMOVED logic to be removed entirely in a
subsequent commit (commit 3c215fb18e, "igc: remove IGC_REMOVED
function"), with the rationale that such checks matter only for
virtualization and that igc does not support virtualization -- but a
PCIe device can become detached even without virtualization being in
use, and without proper checks, a PCIe bus error affecting an igc
adapter will lead to various NULL pointer dereferences, as the first
access after the error will set hw->hw_addr to NULL, and subsequent
accesses will blindly dereference this now-NULL pointer.

This patch reinstates the IGC_REMOVED checks in igc_rd32/wr32(), and
implements IGC_REMOVED the way it is done for igb, by checking for the
unlikely() case of hw_addr being NULL.  This change prevents the oopses
seen when a PCIe link flap occurs on an igc adapter.

2b4659c145 i40e: Fix dropped jumbo frames statistics

Dropped packets caused by too large frames were not included in
dropped RX packets statistics.
Issue was caused by not reading the GL_RXERR1 register. That register
stores count of packet which was have been dropped due to too large
size.

Fix it by reading GL_RXERR1 register for each interface.

Repro steps:
Send a packet larger than the set MTU to SUT
Observe rx statists: ethtool -S <interface> | grep rx | grep -v ": 0"

3bccf82169 igb: Make DMA faster when CPU is active on the PCIe link

Intel I210 on some Intel Alder Lake platforms can only achieve ~750Mbps
Tx speed via iperf. The RR2DCDELAY shows around 0x2xxx DMA delay, which
will be significantly lower when 1) ASPM is disabled or 2) SoC package
c-state stays above PC3. When the RR2DCDELAY is around 0x1xxx the Tx
speed can reach to ~950Mbps.

According to the I210 datasheet "8.26.1 PCIe Misc. Register - PCIEMISC",
"DMA Idle Indication" doesn't seem to tie to DMA coalesce anymore, so
set it to 1b for "DMA is considered idle when there is no Rx or Tx AND
when there are no TLPs indicating that CPU is active detected on the
PCIe link (such as the host executes CSR or Configuration register read
or write operation)" and performing Tx should also fall under "active
CPU on PCIe link" case.

In addition to that, commit b6e0c419f0 ("igb: Move DMA Coalescing init
code to separate function.") seems to wrongly changed from enabling
E1000_PCIEMISC_LX_DECISION to disabling it, also fix that.

40b3815b2c ice: ethtool: advertise 1000M speeds properly

In current implementation ice_update_phy_type enables all link modes
for selected speed. This approach doesn't work for 1000M speeds,
because both copper (1000baseT) and optical (1000baseX) standards
cannot be enabled at once.

Fix this, by adding the function `ice_set_phy_type_from_speed()`
for 1000M speeds.

ff4443f3fc igc: Enable PCIe PTM
commit 1b5d73fb862414106cf270a1a7300ce8ae77de83 upstream.

Enables PCIe PTM (Precision Time Measurement) support in the igc
driver. Notifies the PCI devices that PCIe PTM should be enabled.

PCIe PTM is similar protocol to PTP (Precision Time Protocol) running
in the PCIe fabric, it allows devices to report time measurements from
their internal clocks and the correlation with the PCIe root clock.

The i225 NIC exposes some registers that expose those time
measurements, those registers will be used, in later patches, to
implement the PTP_SYS_OFFSET_PRECISE ioctl().

814092927a i40e: Fix call trace in setup_tx_descriptors

After PF reset and ethtool -t there was call trace in dmesg
sometimes leading to panic. When there was some time, around 5
seconds, between reset and test there were no errors.

Problem was that pf reset calls i40e_vsi_close in prep_for_reset
and ethtool -t calls i40e_vsi_close in diag_test. If there was not
enough time between those commands the second i40e_vsi_close starts
before previous i40e_vsi_close was done which leads to crash.

Add check to diag_test if pf is in reset and don't start offline
tests if it is true.
Add netif_info("testing failed") into unhappy path of i40e_diag_test()

43dfd1169c i40e: Fix calculating the number of queue pairs

If ADQ is enabled for a VF, then actual number of queue pair
is a number of currently available traffic classes for this VF.

Without this change the configuration of the Rx/Tx queues
fails with error.

ef4d73da0a i40e: Fix adding ADQ filter to TC0

Procedure of configure tc flower filters erroneously allows to create
filters on TC0 where unfiltered packets are also directed by default.
Issue was caused by insufficient checks of hw_tc parameter specifying
the hardware traffic class to pass matching packets to.

Fix checking hw_tc parameter which blocks creation of filters on TC0.

2dba96d19d ixgbe: fix unexpected VLAN Rx in promisc mode on VF

When the promiscuous mode is enabled on a VF, the IXGBE_VMOLR_VPE
bit (VLAN Promiscuous Enable) is set. This means that the VF will
receive packets whose VLAN is not the same than the VLAN of the VF.

If we tcpdump on VF3, we see all the packets, even those transmitted
on vlan 1000.

This behavior prevents to bridge VF1 and VF2 in VM2, because it will
create a loop: packets transmitted on VF1 will be received by VF2 and
vice-versa, and bridged again through the software bridge.

This patch remove the activation of VLAN Promiscuous when a VF enables
the promiscuous mode. However, the IXGBE_VMOLR_UPE bit (Unicast
Promiscuous) is kept, so that a VF receives all packets that has the
same VLAN, whatever the destination MAC address.

91620cded9 ixgbe: fix bcast packets Rx on VF after promisc removal

After a VF requested to remove the promiscuous flag on an interface, the
broadcast packets are not received anymore. This breaks some protocols
like ARP.

In ixgbe_update_vf_xcast_mode(), we should keep the IXGBE_VMOLR_BAM
bit (Broadcast Accept) on promiscuous removal.

This flag is already set by default in ixgbe_set_vmolr() on VF reset.

579061f391 igb: skip phy status check where unavailable

igb_read_phy_reg() will silently return, leaving phy_data untouched, if
hw->ops.read_reg isn't set. Depending on the uninitialized value of
phy_data, this led to the phy status check either succeeding immediately
or looping continuously for 2 seconds before emitting a noisy err-level
timeout. This message went out to the console even though there was no
actual problem.

Instead, first check if there is read_reg function pointer. If not,
proceed without trying to check the phy status register.

9e0e75a5e7 ice: fix possible under reporting of ethtool Tx and Rx statistics

The hardware statistics counters are not cleared during resets so the
drivers first access is to initialize the baseline and then subsequent
reads are for reporting the counters. The statistics counters are read
during the watchdog subtask when the interface is up. If the baseline
is not initialized before the interface is up, then there can be a brief
window in which some traffic can be transmitted/received before the
initial baseline reading takes place.

Directly initialize ethtool statistics in driver open so the baseline will
be initialized when the interface is up, and any dropped packets
incremented before the interface is up won't be reported.

6158df4fa5 i40e: i40e_main: fix a missing check on list iterator

The bug is here:
	ret = i40e_add_macvlan_filter(hw, ch->seid, vdev->dev_addr, &aq_err);

The list iterator 'ch' will point to a bogus position containing
HEAD if the list is empty or no element is found. This case must
be checked before any use of the iterator, otherwise it will
lead to a invalid memory access.

To fix this bug, use a new variable 'iter' as the list iterator,
while use the origin variable 'ch' as a dedicated pointer to
point to the found element.

the required size and could lead to the wrong LTR representation.

Scaling is represented as:
scale 0 - 1         (2^(5*0)) = 2^0
scale 1 - 32        (2^(5 *1))= 2^5
scale 2 - 1024      (2^(5 *2)) =2^10
scale 3 - 32768     (2^(5 *3)) =2^15
scale 4 - 1048576   (2^(5 *4)) = 2^20
scale 5 - 33554432  (2^(5 *4)) = 2^25
scale 4 and scale 5 required 20 and 25 bits respectively.
scale 6 reserved.

Replace the u16 type with the u32 type and allow corrected LTR
representation.

e54ea8fc51 ice: synchronize_rcu() when terminating rings

Unfortunately, the ice driver doesn't respect the RCU critical section that
XSK wakeup is surrounded with. To fix this, add synchronize_rcu() calls to
paths that destroy resources that might be in use.

for example commit b3873a5be7 ("net/i40e: Fix concurrency issues
between config flow and XSK")

ffce126c95 ice: Do not skip not enabled queues in ice_vc_dis_qs_msg

Disable check for queue being enabled in ice_vc_dis_qs_msg, because
there could be a case when queues were created, but were not enabled.
We still need to delete those queues.

Normal workflow for VF looks like:
Enable path:
VIRTCHNL_OP_ADD_ETH_ADDR (opcode 10)
VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES (opcode 6)
VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES (opcode 8)

Disable path:
VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES (opcode 9)
VIRTCHNL_OP_DEL_ETH_ADDR (opcode 11)

The issue appears only in stress conditions when VF is enabled and
disabled very fast.
Eventually there will be a case, when queues are created by
VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES, but are not enabled by
VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES.
In turn, these queues are not deleted by VIRTCHNL_OP_DISABLE_QUEUES,
because there is a check whether queues are enabled in
ice_vc_dis_qs_msg.

When we bring up the VF again, we will see the "Failed to set LAN Tx queue
context" error during VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES step. This
happens because old 16 queues were not deleted and VF requests to create
16 more, but ice_sched_get_free_qparent in ice_ena_vsi_txq would fail to
find a parent node for first newly requested queue (because all nodes
are allocated to 16 old queues).

Testing Hints:

Just enable and disable VF fast enough, so it would be disabled before
reaching VIRTCHNL_OP_ENABLE_QUEUES.

b003fc4913 ice: Set txq_teid to ICE_INVAL_TEID on ring creation

When VF is freshly created, but not brought up, ring->txq_teid
value is by default set to 0.
But 0 is a valid TEID. On some platforms the Root Node of
Tx scheduler has a TEID = 0. This can cause issues as shown below.

The proper way is to set ring->txq_teid to ICE_INVAL_TEID (0xFFFFFFFF).

Testing Hints:

If we have freshly created VF and quickly turn it on and off, so there

The reason for the fail is that we are trying to send AQ command to
delete queue 89, which has never been created and receive an "invalid
argument" error from firmware.

As this queue has never been created, it's teid and ring->txq_teid
have default value 0.
ice_dis_vsi_txq has a check against non-existent queues:

But on some platforms the Root Node of Tx scheduler has a teid = 0.
Hence, ice_sched_find_node_by_teid finds a node with teid = 0 (it is
pi->root), and we go further to submit an erroneous request to firmware.

PF interface, when PF is switched to switchdev mode or when VF
driver asks to enable allmulticast or promisc mode for the VF
interface (when vf-true-promisc-support priv flag is off).
The third case is buggy because in that case VSI associated with
VF remains as default one after VF removal.

Reproducer:
1. Create VF
   echo 1 > sys/class/net/ens7f0/device/sriov_numvfs
2. Enable allmulticast or promisc mode on VF
   ip link set ens7f0v0 allmulticast on
   ip link set ens7f0v0 promisc on
3. Delete VF
   echo 0 > sys/class/net/ens7f0/device/sriov_numvfs
4. Try to enable promisc mode on PF
   ip link set ens7f0 promisc on

Although it looks that promisc mode on PF is enabled the opposite
is true because ice_vsi_sync_fltr() responsible for IFF_PROMISC
handling first checks if any other VSI is set as default forwarding
one and if so the function does not do anything. At this point
it is not possible to enable promisc mode on PF without re-probe
device.

To resolve the issue this patch clear default forwarding VSI
during ice_vsi_release() when the VSI to be released is the default
one.

da71a1483b i40e: respect metadata on XSK Rx to skb

For now, if the XDP prog returns XDP_PASS on XSK, the metadata will
be lost as it doesn't get copied to the skb.

Copy it along with the frame headers. Account its size on skb
allocation, and when copying just treat it as a part of the frame
and do a pull after to "move" it to the "reserved" zone.

net_prefetch() xdp->data_meta and align the copy size to speed-up
memcpy() a little and better match i40e_construct_skb().

b2e48cd141 i40e: don't reserve excessive XDP_PACKET_HEADROOM on XSK Rx to skb

{__,}napi_alloc_skb() allocates and reserves additional NET_SKB_PAD
+ NET_IP_ALIGN for any skb.
OTOH, i40e_construct_skb_zc() currently allocates and reserves
additional `xdp->data - xdp->data_hard_start`, which is
XDP_PACKET_HEADROOM for XSK frames.
There's no need for that at all as the frame is post-XDP and will
go only to the networking stack core.
Pass the size of the actual data only to __napi_alloc_skb() and
don't reserve anything. This will give enough headroom for stack
processing.

8c613f7cd3 ice: stop disabling VFs due to PF error responses

The ice_vc_send_msg_to_vf function has logic to detect "failure"
responses being sent to a VF. If a VF is sent more than
ICE_DFLT_NUM_INVAL_MSGS_ALLOWED then the VF is marked as disabled.
Almost identical logic also existed in the i40e driver.

This logic was added to the ice driver in commit 1071a8358a ("ice:
Implement virtchnl commands for AVF support") which itself copied from
the i40e implementation in commit 5c3c48ac6b ("i40e: implement virtual
device interface").

Neither commit provides a proper explanation or justification of the
check. In fact, later commits to i40e changed the logic to allow
bypassing the check in some specific instances.

The "logic" for this seems to be that error responses somehow indicate a
malicious VF. This is not really true. The PF might be sending an error
for any number of reasons such as lack of resources, etc.

Additionally, this causes the PF to log an info message for every failed
VF response which may confuse users, and can spam the kernel log.

This behavior is not documented as part of any requirement for our
products and other operating system drivers such as the FreeBSD
implementation of our drivers do not include this type of check.

In fact, the change from dev_err to dev_info in i40e commit 18b7af57d9
("i40e: Lower some message levels") explains that these messages
typically don't actually indicate a real issue. It is quite likely that
a user who hits this in practice will be very confused as the VF will be
disabled without an obvious way to recover.

We already have robust malicious driver detection logic using actual
hardware detection mechanisms that detect and prevent invalid device
usage. Remove the logic since its not a documented requirement and the
behavior is not intuitive.

The i40e_vc_send_msg_to_vf_ex (and its wrapper i40e_vc_send_msg_to_vf)
function has logic to detect "failure" responses sent to the VF. If a VF
is sent more than I40E_DEFAULT_NUM_INVALID_MSGS_ALLOWED, then the VF is
marked as disabled. In either case, a dev_info message is printed
stating that a VF opcode failed.

This logic originates from the early implementation of VF support in
commit 5c3c48ac6b ("i40e: implement virtual device interface").

That commit did not go far enough. The "logic" for this behavior seems
to be that error responses somehow indicate a malicious VF. This is not
really true. The PF might be sending an error for any number of reasons
such as lacking resources, an unsupported operation, etc. This does not
indicate a malicious VF. We already have a separate robust malicious VF
detection which relies on hardware logic to detect and prevent a variety
of behaviors.

There is no justification for this behavior in the original
implementation. In fact, a later commit 18b7af57d9 ("i40e: Lower some
message levels") reduced the opcode failure message from a dev_err to a
dev_info. In addition, recent commit 01cbf50877e6 ("i40e: Fix to not
show opcode msg on unsuccessful VF MAC change") changed the logic to
allow quieting it for expected failures.

That commit prevented this logic from kicking in for specific
circumstances. This change did not go far enough. The behavior is not
documented nor is it part of any requirement for our products. Other
operating systems such as the FreeBSD implementation of our driver do
not include this logic.

It is clear this check does not make sense, and causes problems which
led to ugly workarounds.

Fix this by just removing the entire logic and the need for the
i40e_vc_send_msg_to_vf_ex function.

283c37e542 ixgbe: xsk: change !netif_carrier_ok() handling in ixgbe_xmit_zc()

Commit c685c69fba ("ixgbe: don't do any AF_XDP zero-copy transmit if
netif is not OK") addressed the ring transient state when
MEM_TYPE_XSK_BUFF_POOL was being configured which in turn caused the
interface to through down/up. Maurice reported that when carrier is not
ok and xsk_pool is present on ring pair, ksoftirqd will consume 100% CPU
cycles due to the constant NAPI rescheduling as ixgbe_poll() states that
there is still some work to be done.

To fix this, do not set work_done to false for a !netif_carrier_ok().

05ae1f0fe9 ice: fix concurrent reset and removal of VFs
commit fadead80fe4c033b5e514fcbadd20b55c4494112 upstream.

Commit c503e63200c6 ("ice: Stop processing VF messages during teardown")
introduced a driver state flag, ICE_VF_DEINIT_IN_PROGRESS, which is
intended to prevent some issues with concurrently handling messages from
VFs while tearing down the VFs.

This change was motivated by crashes caused while tearing down and
bringing up VFs in rapid succession.

It turns out that the fix actually introduces issues with the VF driver
caused because the PF no longer responds to any messages sent by the VF
during its .remove routine. This results in the VF potentially removing
its DMA memory before the PF has shut down the device queues.

Additionally, the fix doesn't actually resolve concurrency issues within
the ice driver. It is possible for a VF to initiate a reset just prior
to the ice driver removing VFs. This can result in the remove task
concurrently operating while the VF is being reset. This results in
similar memory corruption and panics purportedly fixed by that commit.

Fix this concurrency at its root by protecting both the reset and
removal flows using the existing VF cfg_lock. This ensures that we
cannot remove the VF while any outstanding critical tasks such as a
virtchnl message or a reset are occurring.

This locking change also fixes the root cause originally fixed by commit
c503e63200c6 ("ice: Stop processing VF messages during teardown"), so we
can simply revert it.

Note that I kept these two changes together because simply reverting the
original commit alone would leave the driver vulnerable to worse race
conditions.

The VF can be configured via the PF's ndo ops at the same time the PF is
receiving/handling virtchnl messages. This has many issues, with
one of them being the ndo op could be actively resetting a VF (i.e.
resetting it to the default state and deleting/re-adding the VF's VSI)
while a virtchnl message is being handled. The following error was seen
because a VF ndo op was used to change a VF's trust setting while the
VIRTCHNL_OP_CONFIG_VSI_QUEUES was ongoing:

Fix this by making sure the virtchnl handling and VF ndo ops that
trigger VF resets cannot run concurrently. This is done by adding a
struct mutex cfg_lock to each VF structure. For VF ndo ops, the mutex
will be locked around the critical operations and VFR. Since the ndo ops
will trigger a VFR, the virtchnl thread will use mutex_trylock(). This
is done because if any other thread (i.e. VF ndo op) has the mutex, then
that means the current VF message being handled is no longer valid, so
just ignore it.

This issue can be seen using the following commands:

809f030745 ice: fix IPIP and SIT TSO offload

The driver was avoiding offload for IPIP (at least) frames due to
parsing the inner header offsets incorrectly when trying to check
lengths.

This length check works for VXLAN frames but fails on IPIP frames
because skb_transport_offset points to the inner header in IPIP
frames, which meant the subtraction of transport_header from
inner_network_header returns a negative value (-20).

With the code before this patch, everything continued to work, but GSO
was being used to segment, causing throughputs of 1.5Gb/s per thread.
After this patch, throughput is more like 10Gb/s per thread for IPIP
traffic.

This uses either a 2K or 3K buffer, and offsets the DMA mapping by
NET_SKB_PAD + NET_IP_ALIGN. When using a smaller buffer RXDCTL is set to
ensure the PF does not write a full 2K bytes into the buffer, which is
actually 2K minus the offset.

However on the 82599 virtual function, the RXDCTL mechanism is not
available. The driver attempts to work around this by using the SET_LPE
mailbox method to lower the maximm frame size, but the ixgbe PF driver
ignores this in order to keep the PF and all VFs in sync[0].

This means the PF will write up to the full 2K set in SRRCTL, causing it
to write NET_SKB_PAD + NET_IP_ALIGN bytes past the end of the buffer.
With 4K pages split into two buffers, this means it either writes
NET_SKB_PAD + NET_IP_ALIGN bytes past the first buffer (and into the
second), or NET_SKB_PAD + NET_IP_ALIGN bytes past the end of the DMA
mapping.

Avoid this by only enabling build_skb when using "large" buffers (3K).
These are placed in each half of an order-1 page, preventing the PF from
writing past the end of the mapping.

Change i40e_update_vsi_stats and struct i40e_vsi to use u64 fields to match
