module: Expose module_init_layout_section()
commit 2abcc4b5a64a65a2d2287ba0be5c2871c1552416 upstream. module_init_layout_section() choses whether the core module loader considers a section as init or not. This affects the placement of the exit section when module unloading is disabled. This code will never run, so it can be free()d once the module has been initialised. arm and arm64 need to count the number of PLTs they need before applying relocations based on the section name. The init PLTs are stored separately so they can be free()d. arm and arm64 both use within_module_init() to decide which list of PLTs to use when applying the relocation. Because within_module_init()'s behaviour changes when module unloading is disabled, both architecture would need to take this into account when counting the PLTs. module: check for exit sections in layout_sections() instead of module_init_section()

Previously, when CONFIG_MODULE_UNLOAD=n, the module loader just does not
attempt to load exit sections since it never expects that any code in those
sections will ever execute. However, dynamic code patching (alternatives,
jump_label and static_call) can have sites in __exit code, even if __exit is
never executed. Therefore __exit must be present at runtime, at least for as
long as __init code is.
Commit 33121347fb1c ("module: treat exit sections the same as init
sections when !CONFIG_MODULE_UNLOAD") solves the requirements of
jump_labels and static_calls by putting the exit sections in the init
region of the module so that they are at least present at init, and
discarded afterwards. It does this by including a check for exit
sections in module_init_section(), so that it also returns true for exit
sections, and the module loader will automatically sort them in the init
region of the module.
However, the solution there was not completely arch-independent. ARM is
a special case where it supplies its own module_{init, exit}_section()
functions. Instead of pushing the exit section checks into
module_init_section(), just implement the exit section check in
layout_sections(), so that we don't have to touch arch-dependent code.

By making __exit identify as __init for MODULE_UNLOAD, the above is satisfied. So, when !CONFIG_MODULE_UNLOAD, the section ordering should look like the following, with the .exit sections moved to the init region of the module. ANDROID: debug_symbols: Add android_debug_for_each_module
Allow vendors to obtain a list of modules loaded at given time. Vendor modules are able to register on part of notifier chain (register_module_notifer), but a vendor module would never see modules which are loaded before the one which registers on the notifier chain. The kernel doesn't offer load order control, so a hook is necessary to iterate through currently loaded kernel modules. Irrespective as to whether CONFIG_MODULE_SIG is configured, specifying
"module.sig_enforce=1" on the boot command line sets "sig_enforce".
Only allow "sig_enforce" to be set when CONFIG_MODULE_SIG is configured.
This patch makes the presence of /sys/module/module/parameters/sig_enforce
dependent on CONFIG_MODULE_SIG=y.

ANDROID: Add missing CFI jump table symbols to kallsyms
With CONFIG_LTO_CLANG_FULL, LLVM drops all CFI jump table symbols from vmlinux, which doesn't affect kernel functionality, but can make stack traces and other kernel output that prints out jump table addresses harder to read. This change works around the issue for now by adding a script that tells kallsyms about the missing jump table symbols, even though they don't actually exist in the symbol table, and generates a linker script to add the missing symbols to kernel modules. ANDROID: modules: introduce the MODULE_SCMVERSION config
Config MODULE_SCMVERSION introduces a new module attribute --
`scmversion` -- which can be used to identify a given module's SCM
version. This is very useful for developers that update their kernel
independently from their kernel modules or vice-versa since the SCM
version provided by UTS_RELEASE (`uname -r`) will now differ from the
module's vermagic attribute.
For example, we have a CI setup that tests new kernel changes on the
hikey960 and db845c devices without updating their kernel modules. When
these tests fail, we need to be able to identify the exact device
configuration the test was using. By including MODULE_SCMVERSION, we can
identify the exact kernel and modules' SCM versions for debugging the
failures.
Additionally, by exposing the SCM version via the sysfs node
/sys/module/MODULENAME/scmversion, one can also verify the SCM versions
of the modules loaded from the initramfs. Currently, modinfo can only
retrieve module attributes from the module's ko on disk and not from the
actual module that is loaded in RAM.
You can retrieve the SCM version in two ways,
1) By using modinfo:
> modinfo -F scmversion MODULENAME
2) By module sysfs node:
> cat /sys/module/MODULENAME/scmversion

module: delay kobject uevent until after module init call
[ Upstream commit 38dc717e97153e46375ee21797aa54777e5498f3 ] Apparently there has been a longstanding race between udev/systemd and the module loader. Currently, the module loader sends a uevent right after sysfs initialization, but before the module calls its init function. However, some udev rules expect that the module has initialized already upon receiving the uevent. This race has been triggered recently (see link in references) in some systemd mount unit files. For instance, the configfs module creates the /sys/kernel/config mount point in its init function, however the module loader issues the uevent before this happens. sys-kernel-config.mount expects to be able to mount /sys/kernel/config upon receipt of the module loading uevent, but if the configfs module has not called its init function yet, then this directory will not exist and the mount unit fails. A similar situation exists for sys-fs-fuse-connections.mount, as the fuse sysfs mount point is created during the fuse module's init function. If udev is faster than module initialization then the mount unit would fail in a similar fashion. To fix this race, delay the module KOBJ_ADD uevent until after the module has finished calling its init routine. fs/kernel_file_read: Add "offset" arg for partial reads
To perform partial reads, callers of kernel_read_file*() must have a non-NULL file_size argument and a preallocated buffer. The new "offset" argument can then be used to seek to specific locations in the file to fill the buffer to, at most, "buf_size" per call. Where possible, the LSM hooks can report whether a full file has been read or not so that the contents can be reasoned about. LSM: Introduce kernel_post_load_data() hook
There are a few places in the kernel where LSMs would like to have visibility into the contents of a kernel buffer that has been loaded or read. While security_kernel_post_read_file() (which includes the buffer) exists as a pairing for security_kernel_read_file(), no such hook exists to pair with security_kernel_load_data(). Earlier proposals for just using security_kernel_post_read_file() with a NULL file argument were rejected (i.e. "file" should always be valid for the security_..._file hooks, but it appears at least one case was left in the kernel during earlier refactoring. (This will be fixed in a subsequent patch.) Since not all cases of security_kernel_load_data() can have a single contiguous buffer made available to the LSM hook (e.g. kexec image segments are separately loaded), there needs to be a way for the LSM to reason about its expectations of the hook coverage. In order to handle this, add a "contents" argument to the "kernel_load_data" hook that indicates if the newly added "kernel_post_load_data" hook will be called with the full contents once loaded. That way, LSMs requiring full contents can choose to unilaterally reject "kernel_load_data" with contents=false (which is effectively the existing hook coverage), but when contents=true they can allow it and later evaluate the "kernel_post_load_data" hook once the buffer is loaded. With this change, LSMs can gain coverage over non-file-backed data loads (e.g. init_module(2) and firmware userspace helper), which will happen in subsequent patches. Additionally prepare IMA to start processing these cases. module: Add more error message for failed kernel module loading
When kernel module loading failed, user space only get one of the following error messages: - ENOEXEC This is the most confusing one. From corrupted ELF header to bad WRITE|EXEC flags check introduced by in module_enforce_rwx_sections() all returns this error number. - EPERM This is for blacklisted modules. But mod doesn't do extra explain on this error either. - ENOMEM The only error which needs no explain. This means, if a user got "Exec format error" from modprobe, it provides no meaningful way for the user to debug, and will take extra time communicating to get extra info. So this patch will add extra error messages for -ENOEXEC and -EPERM errors, allowing user to do better debugging and reporting. static_call: Add inline static call infrastructure
Add infrastructure for an arch-specific CONFIG_HAVE_STATIC_CALL_INLINE option, which is a faster version of CONFIG_HAVE_STATIC_CALL. At runtime, the static call sites are patched directly, rather than using the out-of-line trampolines. Compared to out-of-line static calls, the performance benefits are more modest, but still measurable. The only-root-readable /sys/module/$module/sections/$section files
did not truncate their output to the available buffer size. While most
paths into the kernfs read handlers end up using PAGE_SIZE buffers,
it's possible to get there through other paths (e.g. splice, sendfile).
Actually limit the output to the "count" passed into the read function,
and report it back correctly. *sigh*
